Engineers take ethics seriously. We take it to the next level.

This consulting firm is a side gig to my current role as the Dakota County Traffic Engineer, which I consider more of an opportunity to be a part of neat work over making money (consider it a passion project, not a cash-in project). At the end of the day I’m still a public servant and as such I have specific mechanisms in place to avoid conflicts of interest (or even the appearance of them) or clouded judgement in decision making for the taxpayers. Those mechanisms include:

  • Working only outside of MN

  • Avoiding subbing or working for firms with MN presence or MN-traffic centric teams

  • A signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that entry into an agreement does not imply preference for Dakota County work

  • Recusal from RFP selection where a conflict exists (or is perceived to exist)

  • Consulting work occurring after hours or during time-off if unavoidable
